I am a geochemist also trained in hydrogeology and geomicrobiology. My research is mainly focused on environmental fate, transport and behavior of metals and organics. I grew up in one of the most arsenic affected areas in Southeast Asia with the scarcity of safe drinking water. My third year undergraduate geochemistry class helped me first to understand the fate and transport of arsenic in aquifer and how understanding the sediment chemistry and water chemistry could help to find arsenic safe drinking water and save thousands of lives. Ever since this course, I have focused my research and career mostly in aqueous geochemistry to understand the fate and transport of contaminants in complex environmental systems (aquifer, soil and water).
